About Us

Climate change has become one of the greatest global challenges facing humanity today, creating multifaceted impacts on ecosystems, agriculture, water resources, energy systems, the economy, and society. Scientific evidence shows that coping with these impacts is only possible through multidisciplinary knowledge and solution-oriented policies.

The Master’s Program with Thesis in Climate Change and Sustainability aims to educate qualified individuals who can understand global environmental issues; specialize in climate science, energy transition, natural resource management, sustainable development, green deal policies, and environmental governance; conduct scientific research; and develop practical solutions. The program is a strong and innovative academic initiative designed to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and vision needed to contribute to a sustainable future.

Considering our country’s climate change mitigation policies, the targets of the Paris Agreement, the adaptation process to the European Green Deal, sustainability-oriented transformation efforts, and emerging legal regulations, the demand for experts in this field is steadily increasing across public institutions, the private sector, and academia. In this context, our program aims to fill a significant gap by training graduates who possess the knowledge, skills, and vision to contribute to the development of climate policies at regional, national, and international levels.

Our program, offered under the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, provides education with a multidisciplinary perspective. Some of the key academic opportunities and features of the program include:

Academic Staff and Disciplines: The program offers specialization opportunities for students from various disciplines such as Environmental Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and Biology.

Laboratory Infrastructure: Students have access to advanced research laboratories equipped with modern instruments for Environmental Chemistry, Environmental Analysis, Environmental Microbiology, and Chromatography.

Research Opportunities: Graduate students can use computer centers within the university library 24/7 during their research and thesis-writing processes and have access to prestigious international databases such as Nature, ScienceDirect, and Scopus.

Career Opportunities: Graduates gain expertise in areas such as environmental management, green finance, energy efficiency, and climate modeling, providing them with a wide range of employment opportunities aligned with sustainable development goals.
